This year’s challenge, in partnership with LEGO and Tempo, was to come up with an innovative packaging design for LEGO’s ‘Bricks and More’ starter set and SCA’s Tempo tissue box.

We have now received 229 entries for this year’s SCA Design Challenge: 145 for the LEGO category and 84 for the Tempo category. Open globally for the first time, the competition attracted students from countries such as Egypt, Hong Kong, Argentina, USA, China  and India.

A jury consisting of design and sales & marketing representatives from SCA Packaging, LEGO and Tempo will now have in their hands the task of going through all submissions and select the best five entries per category. The Tempo category jury members will meet in Brussels on December 14 and the LEGO category jury members will meet on December 20 in Billund (Denmark).

During February 2012, the five lucky LEGO category finalists will participate in a workshop at our Design Centre in Vejle (Denmark) and will visit LEGO’s own manufacturing facilities in Billund (Denmark). The Tempo finalists will follow their workshop at our Design Centre in Gent (Belgium) and visit the Tempo factory in Neuss-am-Rhein (Germany). Throughout the workshops and for one month afterwards, finalists will receive expert support and guidance from our designers in order to fine-tune their concepts before submitting them to the SCA Design Challenge final.

Jury members for both categories will meet once again in March to select the overall winners of the SCA Design Challenge 03, which will be announced on March 28th 2012 during the SCA Design Challenge award ceremony.
