The members of the Design Challenge jury ’09 have concluded their jury meetings with a short list of 5 candidates. These participants will be invited to the next round of the competition.
This year’s challenge was to come up with a lean, smart - fat free - packaging solution for an existing product that can be bought in retail. ‘We believe we raised the bar with this years’ challenge as the task was more complex This has not made the selection processes easier, just as last year we had lots of discussions in order to select 5 candidates out of all the submissions’ states Wim Wouters Design Director.
The 5 candidates have been informed about the selection and will be invited for workshops at one of SCA Packaging’s Design Centre. They will have a full day together with the local designers along with some delegates of the Innovation Centre. During the day they will learn more about packaging and will be challenged on their concept and design. The aim of these workshops is to widen the scope of the students and to give them the opportunity to integrate the feedback of professionals into their work.
The workshops will be organised during pril & May and participants will be asked to submit their revised concept afterwards. The students will then be invited to the next jury meeting to present their work and to convince the jury why they have the best entry The Design Challenge award ceremony will be organised in Brussels and is foreseen for later this year. More details on the event will follow shortly
