Building a leading research competence
We currently have partnerships with the Universities of Lund (Sweden) , Manchester (UK), Darmstadt (Germany) and the Vlerick Management School (Belgium).
Our Partnership Agreement with the Lund Institute of Technology has the objective to build a leading research competence on issues facing the packaging, retail and logistics industries and to prepare students for career possibilities in the packaging and logistics industries.
This programme involves researchers both from the Department of Engineering Logistics and from the Institute of Economic Research and consists of several activities, e.g. projects for doctoral or postdoctoral researchers, opportunities for students to write their master theses on subjects related to the research program.
The Lund Institute of Technology and the School of Economics and Management are also in charge of developing a network of centres of excellence throughout Europe, starting with the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy and France. They have already identified several Universities and Institutes that could participate in the project. Discussions are in progress.
SCA Packaging's objective is to retain top class students in order to offer possibilities for a career within the company e.g. by means of providing opportunities for industry training through internships in SCA Packaging for students. Also a yearly seminar and an awareness service keeping SCA managers informed of new research of relevance to the industry, are part of the partnership agreement.
