Design process

According to our 4 steps DESIGN PROCESS

Finding design solutions that really work, this is our mission.  Our structured approach will get your packaging working harder in-store. Successful packaging and display design innovation starts as early as possible in the process.

We distinguish four steps in a design process, that is:

  • Research, mapping the client's needs…
  • Exploring, looking at various solutions…
  • Challenging, testing the performance…
  • Validating, ending successfully…

Research

Design servicesThe starting point is to have a clear understanding of the project’s objectives. This involves researching our customers’ market and supply chain processes.

We start with mapping the needs of the customer and the functions the packaging will need to fulfil.  We look at the expectations of the retailers and consumers and set the right focus points The end result of the process will be a detailed project brief that will be used as a guideline for the next steps.

Explore

In this phase we explore different concept ideas, creating and combining solutions. If the project requires it, we gather a team of designers covering all in-store touch points and organise design workshops.  Brainstorming, mood boards, we use a variation of techniques to ensure as many alternatives possible get to see the daylight.

The end result of the process will be first drafts and sketches, sometimes even a combination of features of different designs result into the best concept designs.

In order to make the work concrete we produce virtual and physical prototypes and evaluate them.

Challenge

To ensure our packaging solutions fit your specific requirements, we submit them to a range of tests and consider different materials and mechanisation options.  The performance of our physical prototypes gets evaluated along the supply chain.

Together with our customers we evaluate the results and concluded this phase with a listing of the most suited options.

Validate

In order to finalise the process, we have a last validation phase in which the selected concepts get tested even more in depth.  If required even test runs will be passed on to production in order to base our judgement on real life data. Our process ends successfully once we see one of our new designs in production.
